System Design

During the Design Phase the Glenbarra Energy Team will work closely with our Client/Owner or third party Contractor and Mechanical and Structural Engineers to design a System that will perform to meet design criteria and the needs of the Client/Owner whilst integrating seamlessly into the existing building structure and mechanical systems.  At the end of this phase a complete set of Design Drawings and Specifications will have been generated.

Product Selection

Glenbarra Energy takes a careful and conservative approach to project installation choosing to work with superior suppliers of products that are durable and adaptable across multiple structure types and yet facilitate a simplified approach to construction efficiency.

Feasibility Assessment

Glenbarra Energy has gained valuable experience from its active involvement in the detailed design and development phase of each project that we have undertaken. We are able to assess the best application of available renewable technologies by evaluating a proposed location against set criteria and are therefore able to recommend a financially viable solution.

Permitting

Glenbarra Energy has worked with numerous municipalities in Ontario in the permitting process for Renewable Energy Projects including electrical/mechanical systems and entire design build projects. As part of our services we will assist with the submission process required to obtain all necessary approvals and permits.

Once all approvals and permits are obtained our Project Management team will work closely the Client/Owner or third party Contractor to develop a detailed installation and commissioning schedule with the Client/Owner.

Construction Consulting

Glenbarra Energy directly manages its project construction through its in-house Project Managers and project design coordinator with supervision at the job site provided by the Construction Managers.  We take a customer focused approach to completing our projects, ensuring that there is successful scheduling, budgeting, on-site safety, availability of materials, logistics, and minimal inconvenience to the Clients/Owners caused while the project is ongoing.

During the Installation Phase, Glenbarra Energy will provide Project and Construction Management Services.  The team will provide assistance in the form of on-site training, installation supervision and assist with the development of a project schedule to ensure all materials and equipment required to complete the system installation are installed on schedule and in accordance with the Design Drawings and Specifications.

Commissioning Phase

Upon completion of the installation of the System, a site commissioning report (CDI2008) is prepared by a member of the Glenbarra Energy Team.  As a certified member of CanSIA recognized by NRCan, Glenbarra Energy is qualified to sign off on the commissioning of the System.  Our Commissioning services include providing the Client or Third Party Contractor with a Commissioning Report and providing assistance with the preparation of final submissions to obtain all rebates and grants that were applied for and approved during the Design Phase.

The commissioning report includes the following:

  • Steps taken during the commissioning of the system
  • Certifies that the system was installed as described in the  NRCan Contribution Agreement
  • Certifies that the system was installed in accordance with professional engineering practices
  • Confirms that System is operational

Monitoring

Subsequent to the System commissioning a system graphic can provide real-time energy management and monitoring information.

As part of the energy management of each installation, Glenbarra Energy offers an ongoing monitoring system developed in Canada that can be monitored onsite and viewed remotely (see graphic below).  The metering data can be used to quantify the fossil fuel energy offset and corresponding Green House Gases (GHG) that have been reduced.

The monitoring system allows our customers to control their finances by providing independent information on the electricity generated from the installed PV System or utility offset by the Solar Thermal installation as compared to the information received from the utility company. The data on the solar energy produced and the CO2 emission saved can be used for educational and public relations purposes. The long term maintenance of the system can be assessed using this remote monitoring system and corrective steps taken to ensure the continuing high level of operating efficiency of the system.

A key component that Glenbarra Energy provides as part of its experience with managing solar energy Systems is the need to advance public understanding of renewable energy through education and promotion throughout the community.  Real-time energy management and monitoring will help meet the objective of encouraging the deployment of renewable energy technologies in the community.

Service & Maintenance

A complete Service and Maintenance Program can be provided to the Client/Owner by Glenbarra Energy.  This program ensures that the system is maintained in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s requirements and ensures ongoing optimum performance of the system for the duration of the design life and beyond.  In addition, with the selection of a Service and Maintenance Program, Glenbarra Energy, together with the Equipment Manufacturer, offers a number of Extended Warranty Options.

As part of our services Glenbarra Energy will work with Client’s/Owner’s or third party contractors to provide training in maintenance, trouble-shooting and assist in growing their knowledge level regarding operation of the installed renewable energy system.
